Time begins with the Rheingold overture that lures us into the waters of the mysterious Rhine, there, Maidens tease, love is renounced and an accursed ring takes centre stage. We wendle our way through lofty mountain-tops, the depths of Niebelung underworld, encountering gods, dwarves and giants along the way. It is a sordid and dangerous existence where there is always someone on 'the make'. A shape shifting helmet, apples of youth and a trafficked goddess all lead to the rainbow bridge, and what lies beyond?
